Donetsk Ukraine is a city with a population of just over one million people. It is located in the eastern part of Ukraine – a major state in the heart of Europe. It stands on the river Kalmius in the central part of the Donetsk Basin (48 ° 00 ‘north latitude and 37 ° 48′ east longitude).
Together with Makiivka, whose boundaries are very close to Donetsk, as well as Khartsyzsk, Yasinovataya, Avdiyivka and others nearby cities and towns forms an industrial-hub and metropolitan area of Donetsk-Makeevka.
Having the status of the regional center of Ukraine, Donetsk plays an important role in the political and socio-economic life of our state. Donetsk is related to many events that have had a significant impact on various aspects of life in Ukraine. History of the town is an integral part of the history of Ukraine.
Donetsk ridge
Yuzovka – Stalin – not the first city to have appeared in the Donbass region. The oldest cities are Bakhmut and Mariupol, which were marked on the map yet of the XVIII century.
Up to today the industrial Yuzovka has been opened several times, the area was visited by many different nomadic tribes, then divided the land among themselves Cossacks, and now just down the river Kalmius is a bridge that brings the two banks together.
When, in the Donetsk Ukraine region deposits of coal have been found, here came John James Hughes, the people know him as Hughes and, according to some sources, he was in favourable relationship with the local alcoholics. Despite this, he became an original founder of the future city. The settlement was named Yuzivka, a factory was built and people began to develop the coal mining industry. The Weather in Donesk has helped to complete the task as the climate there is temperate continental and there are not a lot of rains.
In the 70-80s in the northern part of Yuzovka there was only one street, “first line”, which by the nature of the buildings looked like a city. In 1891 began the planning of Yuzovka streets.
In the summer of 1917 the village was transformed into Yuzovka city. In 1924 it was renamed to Yuzovka Stalino. While the city for a couple of weeks was called Trotsky.
In 1961, Stalino was renamed to Donetsk, based on the name of the river – the Northern Donetsk River, the area became a Stalinist Donetsk.
Modern Donetsk Ukraine – is a major industrial, administrative, cultural and educational and training center, whose population exceeded one million. This city has a developed transport infrastructure, wide network of different supermarkets and a number of great destinations. It has a unique botanical garden (the Garden area of 270 hectares – the largest one in Europe). Weather in Donesk helps the city to develop as there are no monsoons or hard rains, the weather in Donesk is rather level which is sure to attract guests to come to the city.

BEAUFORT, NC – Blackbeard is proving more popular in death than in life. Over 12,000 people visited the North Carolina Maritime Museum in Beaufort during the first seven days of a new exhibition of artifacts from Blackbeard’s flagship, Queen Anne’s Revenge. About 300 items from the wreck in about 20 feet of water off the coast of North Carolina are included in the exhibition, which begins with an introduction to the QAR project and the pirate Blackbeard. Most of the artifacts have never been exposed to the public. Museum officials say visitors have come from 26 states, as well as Britain, Canada and the Netherlands. The exhibition opened June 11 and will be on permanent display, even if it changes as items are kept and available for viewing.

NEW YORK – It ‘last trip to the bait and switch. You can book a ticket on a nonstop flight, but the airline will cancel a couple of weeks later, leaving a computer to automatically rebook. Your new itinerary includes a stop, turning a five-hour trip in eight hours of travel. "You are at the mercy of the airline," says Anna Stinson, 40, of Minneapolis in May, Stinson has bought tickets for a trip to North Carolina in the middle of August. She is traveling with his son and took four years because it offered a Delta non-stop flight. Then, as part of the system at the level of cuts, the flight was cleared. She was rebooked with a connection in Atlanta. "I’m frustrated," said Stinson. "I do not have the product that I gave them my money." With airlines cutting hours because of fuel costs, travelers who have booked flights in advance may now find their plans overturned. And is likely to worsen in the fall. Delta cut 3.5 percent of its domestic flights in September and 1.6 percent for October. U.S. Airways cut by 4.5 percent and 1.3 percent, respectively, and U.S. has stopped 4.4 percent and 5.3 percent, according to Barclays Capital. That’s nearly 1,000 flights in less than last year for just these three airlines. "It is more likely than ever to find the plans that you made in November could change and could change dramatically," says aviation consultant Michael Boyd. Sometimes the connections are added to the trip. Other times two hours of parking is extended to six hours sleep. The government offers little protection for the time travelers, and a change of program, there are few alternatives. Although airlines have already set their plans for fall, experts warn that further cuts could come. "If the economy gets much worse, fuel costs remain high and business travel demand slackens, then I expect we will see the airlines reduce capacity," says Henry H. Harteveldt, airline analyst at Forrester Research. To prevent a nightmare journey, arrives one day in advance if a cruise or attending a wedding. In addition, provide an up-to-date phone number and email address when you make a reservation so that airlines can be contacted immediately in case of change of time. If the program gets changed: • Do not just accept the computer chooses. Call the airline and see if it has a better solution. • Know the alternatives. Go to the website of the airline and flight research according to the schedule. When you call to complain, he asked to be placed on the specific flight you want. • Check other airlines. You may be able to get a refund and buy a new ticket to another carrier. However, the closer you get to your travel date airfare tends to be more expensive. The airlines say the program changes are necessary to keep their operations profitable and flexible. They say they make every effort to accommodate the most disturbed. The Department of Transportation rules to protect customers of the airlines do not address the problem, except to say that airlines should offer refunds for "significant change" in departure or arrival. What constitutes a big change varies between airlines. For example, Delta offers refunds to passengers who do not arrive within 90 minutes of their time originally planned. American offers good changes for over an hour and cash refunds for changes by more than two hours. U.S. Airways refund a ticket if a schedule change is unacceptable for a passenger until it was purchased directly though the airline. Where you can find the rules? They are buried in a lengthy document called "contract of carriage" that governs who has responsibility for an airline passenger. "They are making it harder to read as possible," says Christopher Elliott, a travel consumer advocate. Refunds are often not useful to passengers. For the moment, is a program change, there could be another flight available at a comparable price. "It’s going to cost you three or four times as much as would have three months ago," says Kate Hanni, executive director FlyersRights.org. "The reimbursement is not a remedy." ___ Mayerowitz Scott can be reached at http://twitter.com/GlobeTrotScott. </A>

SINGAPORE, (Reuters) – Demand for business travel is holding better than price-sensitive leisure travelers in a sign of business confidence and a resumption of world trade, the chief economist of global airlines body IATA said on Tuesday. Airlines also expect renewed growth in demand for air transport in the second half of this year, as the movements of capital goods and high value components pick up, Brian Pearce said. Air transport demand soared as the global economy emerged from recession last year, driven by restocking and just-in-time supply chain. Pearce said the Chinese domestic traffic, which is often regarded as a barometer of the stimulus inside the second largest economy in the world, had dipped temporarily as authorities moved to prevent inflation, but should return to a path of structural growth. He warned that the delivery records of some 1,300 to 1,400 jets and turboprop aircraft in 2011 has created a "clear risk of overcapacity" in some markets, but noted that the prospects of the aviation industry in Asia ex-Japan has remained positive. Japan, he said, should show a "fairly full recovery" in air traffic by the end of the year as the impact on global supply chains from the March 11 earthquake and tsunami tapering off. (Reporting by Tim Hepher; Mounting Raju Gopalakrishnan)

Idaho Falls, Idaho – The Idaho National Laboratory, one of the nation’s first nuclear research laboratories, is built deep into the desert for a reason. Its founders wanted the isolation in which he experienced the new technology of splitting atoms. Sixty years later, civilization has crept even closer. The INL is an hour from Idaho Falls, the nearest city of good size, and extends into the desert in every direction. The site is home to a National Historic Landmark called Experimental Breeder Reactor EBR-I or I, who in 1951 became the world’s first nuclear reactor to generate electricity from atomic energy. The INL sophisticated nuclear research attracts visiting scientists from around the world, but also offers a tour of the EBR-I reactor at the general public. The INL was established in 1949 as the National Reactor Testing Station about 890 miles square – about 85 percent the size of Rhode Island. For many years, the site was home to the largest concentration of nuclear reactors in the world. Fifty-two reactors were built there, and the technology for the first nuclear-powered submarine in the world, was developed there. The INL is a non-commercial power production, is a research laboratory. Its mission includes research on biotechnology, energy and materials, and conservation and renewable energy. An estimated 8,000 people working at or near the site, which is owned by the U.S. Department of Energy and largely managed by the contractor Batelli Energy Alliance. Many of the physical structures should look like in the years 1950 and 1960, and the whole site has a Cold War feel. Public tours are a way for the possibility of balancing the secret that goes hand in hand with military research, with the publicity and education of a publicly funded entity. With informative video introduction to nuclear power and some guides handy, INL does a good job of showing his unusual story and explaining, even to visitors without any scientific background, some of what happens there. Touring the construction EBR-I’s Atomic Museum, the audience can see three nuclear reactors in operation, including two nuclear-powered aircraft prototypes, and radiation detection equipment. Visitors can also try the robotic arms used to handle radioactive materials. A new exhibition has just opened three rooms that tells the story of brothers EBR-I reactor, EBR-II, which includes historic photos, renderings and information panels, as well as a recreation of the reactor control room and audio and video clips interviews with workers. The reactor operated for 30 years until 1994. Even if you do not get to see in a regular tour of the museum, some tour especially designed for civic groups and others include a trip to the INL Materials and Fuel Complex, several miles away, with a stop at the hot cell, a room 70 -by-30-foot windows with 4-foot thick. There, the fuel and structural materials that come out of the reactor test examined using robotic arms to protect the scientists doing the work. The windows are made of six or seven layers of glass, mineral oil between the layers to reduce distortion. The windows reveal a yellowish scene like no other. The glass gives the room a look underwater. It ‘full of tools for metal cutting ordinary to the future and work benches, and visitors are impressed to learn that no one has been inside since 1974. One of the first questions is: "How do you hang the lights?" Tour Guide said Don Miley, who has been showing visitors around the INL for 18 years. "For us, it’s old stuff." (Remote handling devices – robotic arms – are used.) The Nuclear Energy Institute, Washington, DC non-profit organization that was established to promote nuclear power, encourages its members to educate the public through visits such as that offered by INL . Nuclear plants crackdown on visits after the attacks of Sept. 11, but since they have instituted new security protocols and offer a tour of a few hours, said Steve Kerekes, a spokesman for the NEI. But visits to parts of the INL outside the museum are strictly controlled and are usually limited to groups. Non-US citizens have to apply weeks ahead of time for a special permit to enter. nearest city is INL, Arco, it bills as the first city to be lit by nuclear energy, and has carved out an identity from its proximity to the site. It is about 20 miles west of EBR-I. Arco Idaho Science Center is open to the Vice Provincei, composed of retired officials INL engineers. To an external display, near the science center, visitors will find a 60-ton tower, known as a sail, from a decommissioned nuclear submarine. Arco also has a two-day festival called Atomic Days, this year scheduled for July 15 and 16, with a rodeo and other events. Like people in INL, Arco Michelle Holt, whose grandfather and father worked at the site, people want to know more about nuclear power. "There’s only this cloak of mystery about nuclear energy," said Holt. ___ IDAHO Laborator NAZIONALEY: https: / / inlportal.inl.gov / portal / server.pt / community / home. EBR-I reactor building houses an Atomic Museum opened to the public for guided tours and self-guided Memorial Day through Labor Day, 09:00-17:00 every day. Free admission. Visitors with more technical interest may be able to arrange site visits to other facilities INL, check website for details. ATOMIC ARC DAYS: In Arco, Idaho, July 15-16. Rodeo, bike show, steak fry and other events. Motel, campground and RV park in the city http://www.buttecountychamber.com. IDAHO Science Center: 20/26 Highway to Hawkbill Arco, Idaho, 208-527-3770.

WASHINGTON – If you’ve ever wondered what kind of tree was nearby, but not a guide, a new smartphone application allows users without formal training in order to satisfy their curiosity and to contribute to science, at the same time. Scientists have developed the first mobile application to identify the plants, simply by photographing a leaf. The free iPhone and iPad called Leafsnap, immediately look for a leaf growing library of images accumulated by the Smithsonian Institution. Within seconds, it returns the name of a probable case, high-resolution photographs and information on the tree flowers, fruits, seeds and bark. Users make the final identification and sharing their findings with the database application to help the growing population map of the trees one cell at a time. Leafsnap debuted in May, covering all the trees of Central Park in New York and Washington’s Rock Creek Park. E ‘was downloaded over 150,000 times in the first month, and its creators expect to continue to grow as it expands to Android phones. By this summer, will include all the trees in the Northeast, and finally cover all the trees of North America. Smithsonian research botanist John Kress, who created the application with the engineers at Columbia University and the University of Maryland, said it was originally conceived in 2003 as a high-tech help for scientists to discover new species in unknown environments. The project has evolved, though, with the emergence of smartphones to become a new way for citizens to contribute to research. "This is going to be able to populate a database of all the trees in the United States," said Kress. "I mean that there are millions and millions and millions of trees, so that would be really neat." It ‘also the first real opportunity for citizens to directly access some of the science based on nearly 5 million copies kept by the U.S. National Herbarium at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History. The collection began in 1848 and is among the world’s 10 largest plant collections. Kress said that will allow users to easily learn about plant diversity in their backyards and parks. It also includes games and could be used to build the lessons or treasure hunts for schools. For Colleen Greene, an avid hiker and a librarian at California State University at Fullerton, the application immediately caught his eye on an educational site for its ability to involve citizens, scientists and especially students. Have you already downloaded the application and started trying to use it, even if it does not cover all the trees of the West Coast for some time. "If our tank and wildflower books finder track with us, something like this is much more engaging and more portable," he said. "For young people, for young adults, students, saw them only eat this up." There is only a problem for her – a demonstration video shows a girl plucking a leaf from a tree to take a snapshot with your application. This is a violation of "leave no trace" outdoor principals for the management and illegal in many parks, including national parks, Greene said. "You know, one or two leaves can not be a big deal, but if it is a popular, heavily used app, I would think that could possibly cause some problems," he said. At the Smithsonian, Kress said the application is an important tool, because knowing the environment is the first step to keep it. "We are obviously concerned about the impact we have on nature, but as educators and scientists, we think the value of helping people learn more about the environment outweighs the small effect of plucking a few leaves," he said. To identify a tree, it works best if users placed a leaf on a white background to photograph. Engineers used the facial recognition technology to develop an algorithm that can identify a leaf, because of its shape and characteristics. The image is loaded on a server, and within seconds it returns a ranking of tree species more likely that a user has found, together with other features to help confirm the identity of the tree. Users make the final identification. To create a reliable database as the backbone to the application, the team began by taking photographs from the Smithsonian’s vast collection of specimens. E ‘became clear, however, that they would need images of living specimens for the apit functions properly. A nonprofit group called Finding species has been called to take thousands of pictures of leaves for the application. Beyond finding answers to the world of trees, even occasional users can contribute to scientific research. Images and tree identifications are sent automatically mapping information from your phone database Leafsnap’s. The scientists said that data could potentially be used to map and monitor the growth and decline of populations of tree. The iPad version also includes a feature called "Species close" to show all the trees that have been labeled by others near your location. This field guide reinvented, as simple as a Google search, would not have been possible just a couple of voiars ago before the emergence of smartphones, said computer science professor Peter Belhumeur, who directs the laboratory of Columbia University for the Study of Visual Appearance helped to create the application. "People often think of technology as alienating us from other people or the outside world," said Belhumeur. "I hope this technology helps connect us with our natural environment." Other applications have been developed to identify songs from short clips recorded on a smartphone or to find restaurants. Further applications of science may be on the way as well. Belhumeur said his son, William, already is planning to create applications that could identify the fish or insects. Smithsonian scientists are exploring those possibilities, with butterflies and other creatures, Kress said. Scientists are also to expand the capabilities required for the application of tree cover in France, Morocco, Thailand and elsewhere. "We want to spread this, and not between the United States, but worldwide," said Belhumeur. It ‘s just a matter of collecting and photographing all tree species native to a region. Leafsnap cost of about $ 2.5 million to develop, mainly financed by a grant from the National Science Foundation. It will cost one million U.S. dollars to expand within the next 18 months covering all the trees of the United States, involving about 800 species.
